Mission Trip Experience

Embarking on the SOLT Belize Mission Trip 2022 I was excited for the chance to serve those less fortunate than myself. However, the opposite happened: the people of Belize helped me more than I helped them. A multitude of moments led to this realization: the bottomless joy and hope of the kids at our youth nights; the prayers and conversations with the sick and elderly on San Pedro Island; Rolfi, a young man who daily accompanied us with contagious joy and excitement; Tranquilino’s needy family, eagerly helping us rebuild their house, offering us food from their poverty, and their continual gratitude and joy. These and other encounters proved the importance of community, faith, and hope. Yes, we encountered poverty and brokenness in Belize, and I pray for them every day, but they showed me the brokenness within my own faith and community. Thankfully, we were able to make an impact on the people of Belize, serving them both materially and spiritually. I am grateful for and appreciative of the experience, the fellow missionaries and SOLT members I served with, and the SOLT missions in Belize. Above all, I am thankful for the people of Belize, and Jesus Christ clearly present in their communities.

Help Continue the Mission

The SOLT Missionary Volunteer Program is flourishing, growing every year, and producing beautiful fruits in the lives of young adults. We at SOLT are grateful to God for these gifts. We seek to invite others to share in this work of the Holy Spirit. There are those who “give by going” and those who “go by giving”.  Would you be willing to be a mission partner with the SOLT Missionary Volunteer Program, to go on mission by giving? In doing so, you help expand the reach of these mission opportunities.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation via SOLT.net/donate, with “SMV Program” in the memo. Your donation will greatly bless this program through the numerous young adults serving in mission!
